A young guy at work is signed up for the triple this year. I overheard him talking about a ride from Nederland to Rollinsville. Sure, it was at elevation, but I thought he'd need some climbing experience, so I half-heartedly suggested Ward....and got my ass handed to me. While I'm quite pleased with my performance: climbing to Sawmill Road via Old Stage and Lee Hill on my first climb of the season, I totally underestimated this kid. He's riding a cross bike with rat traps and just discovered riding shorts. He didn't just discover lifting weights. Apparently he can do a seated press of 260 and shows in his hill climbing. There I am, motoring away in one of my lowest gears like the tortus, and this guys flying up the hill then riding back down to meet me like it's nothing. AMAZING. He should have done a second trip up. Thanks for the ass kicking motivation Andy.
